- The proposal on the TDRT’s activities has been adopted as a ROAD Project of the Nippon Foundation and awarded a grant. We will make good use of the grant for mental care activities at Takahagi-shi, Ibaraki, which have been already started, and also other psychological support activities and on-site lectures in and out of Ibaraki which are going into action from now on.

- Tokiwa International Victimology Institute is now holding a photo exhibition of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Dr. Mary Nishio & Ms. Agnes Turnasky sent us many photos taken at Ishinomaki city while they worked as volunteers extensively. There are other photos taken by the TIVI Disaster Response Team during their visit to disaster areas and also the training program conducted from 18th to 20th April on our campus. This exhibition is being held at the entrance of the TIVI office on 1st Floor, F Building till the end of June. Please feel free to visit our office during working hours.

The 1st Joint Seminar with a study group of Ibaraki University, “Love, Vulnerability and Victimology” was held at Ibaraki University, Bunkyo, Mito-city on July 31st (Saturday). This is the first time for both institutions to conduct a collaborative English seminar from victimological perspectives. A total of approx. 50 participants of professors, researchers and students from both universities, as well as local citizens who are interested in this topic gathered at Ibaraki University to spend almost 5 hours of program with four lectures and active Q & A time, which brought us a good opportunity to deepen the mutual understanding. Director Dr. John Dussich and Professor Dr. Kieran Mundy from Tokiwa International Victimology Institute delivered each presentation in this seminar. The next seminar will be held in February 2011 at Tokiwa University.

The first online issue of the TIVI journal, Interntational Perspectives in Victimology will be published by The Press at California State University in August 2010. We now invite manuscripts on "Domestic Violence" for the second online issue, Vol. 5 (2) to be published in March 2011. The deadline for the submission of manuscripts is September 30, 2010.

Professor Kieran Mundy of TIVI will deliver the 2010 Justice Oration on "Victims of Global Environmental Change" at the South Australian Institute of Justice Studies in Adelaide, Australia on 27 May, 2010.

- Tokiwa University and California State University, Fresno have signed an agreement to launch the E-Journal publication of TIVI’s International Perspectives in Victimology. The first publications are expected to be available online through the TIVI’s homepage later this year.

- The 2010 JICA Program on the Development of Comprehensive Assistance Systems for Victims is underway! This year’s course, which is hosted by the Tokiwa International Victimology Institute, is being attended by six participants from the Colombian National Commission for Reparation and Reconciliation (CNRR) and focuses on victim-support training, especially for victims of regional conflict.
