◆Training Program "Psychological Care for Disaster Victims" was conducted from 18 to 20, April.
In order to respond to the unprecedented victimization resulting from the Great East Japan Earthquake, TIVI has launched a Disaster Response Team. As one of the team's activities, we have conducted a training program titled" Psychological Care for Disaster Victims "at Tokiwa University as follows. Objective of the Team:
The earthquake and tsunami which struck a vast area of Japan’s eastern coast on March 11, 2011 has left countless people facing various types of difficulties and stress. The activity plan of the TDRT aims at providing the services mentioned below for a certain period (until December 2011, at the latest), according to the needs of the disaster victims. The TDRT will ultimately conduct victimological research based on the experience of psychological intervention and stress care services.
Activity Plan:
1) Professional training for those pursuing a career in providing psychological care to victims. (Location: Tokiwa University)
2) Basic training in psychological support for clinical psychologists, public nurses, individuals with the opportunity to assist victims and individuals interested in assisting victims. (Location: Tokiwa University)
3) Offering psychological intervention and stress care services to victims. (Location: On-site)
4) Psychological stress and crime victimization prevention training-themed lecture tour for affected communities, schools and business. (Location: On-site)
5) Distributing information regarding support for possible psychological stress and crime victimization after a natural disaster. (Leaflets, brochures, etc.)
6) Conducting victimological research in the near future. (Location: On-site)
