International Center Supporter highlights from the 2026 Spring Semester

Welcome Party

The welcome party was held at the end of April for the new first-year students who joined the club, as well as new exchange students. We were happy to welcome many new members, including a Korean exchange student who studied here during the spring semester.

The main activity of the party was bingo, where students had to walk around and ask each other questions in order to complete their sheets. This provided a great opportunity for everyone to get to know one another while having fun. The first eight students to complete their bingo sheets received imported snacks as prizes.

Overall, it was a warm and relaxed event where new and returning members could connect and enjoy spending time together.

JAXA Bus tour

In June, students joined a bus tour to JAXA in Tsukuba, where they learned about space exploration and the technology involved in sending people and equipment into space. The group enjoyed a one-hour guided tour with a JAXA staff member, exploring the exhibits and learning about Japan's space programme. It was an interesting and enjoyable experience for everyone.

After the tour, students travelled to Tsukuba Station for lunch and spent about two hours exploring the surrounding area before returning to Mito.

It was a great day out and a unique opportunity to visit a world-class space research facility so close to home.

Sports & Farewell

The final event of the semester was a farewell sports competition, giving everyone a chance to have fun together before the break. Students were divided into three teams and competed in friendly games of volleyball, badminton, and an obstacle race.

The day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and plenty of encouragement. Although there were a couple of minor injuries, everyone had an enjoyable time, making it a great way to finish the semester together.
