2025 Fall Semester: Talk Time, EC, and MEC
Talk Time
We moved our talk time to lunchtime so more students who were previously unable to attend could join, and it was a success.
This program offers an enjoyable way to explore languages and cultures, with exchange students taking on the role of teachers and sharing their native languages and cultural traditions. Topics range from self-introductions and greetings to local cuisine, popular tourist destinations, and current trends, making it an interactive and enriching experience for university students. Our exchange students worked incredibly hard on their slides, presented in Japanese, and truly stepped out of their comfort zones.
They actively interacted with Japanese students and created fun, engaging sessions each week.

EC (English Connections)
Our English conversation exchange program, English Connections, has become even more vibrant with the arrival of exchange students from Canada, Poland, Ukraine, and the Philippines. Together with our local students, participants gather to practice English in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere while building meaningful cross-cultural connections.
Through lively conversations, students explore a wide range of topics, from hobbies and everyday life to traditions, holidays, and customs from their home countries. To keep things light and engaging, the group also enjoys playing English-language games, turning language practice into a fun and memorable experience.

MEC (Multicultural English Connections)
Our exchange students visited Tokiwa University High School and Chigakukan Secondary School to connect with local high school students.
At Tokiwa University High School, they chatted in English in small groups, gave short presentations about sports in their home countries, and participated in an Umaibo (Japanese snack) ranking game. Can you guess which flavour was the most popular among the exchange students?
At Chigakukan Secondary School, they had the opportunity to try kendo. Despite the short time, the session was packed with captivating details about the sport. They also tried calligraphy, with the class led by the high school students acting as mini teachers.
They had a great time interacting with the high school students.
